Start location: Camp Robert Drake
City/State: Fairmount, IL
Start time: 8:30 am Distance(s):
The Camp Drake Trail Race winds through roughly 4.5 miles of trail along the banks of the Salt Fork River. During your run, expect to traverse grass, gravel, dirt, sand, moss, rock, small wooden footbridges, trickling creeks, and switchbacks, as you follow the Onaquispasippi Trail from river bed to hilltop. Young ones want to get involved? A 1-Kilometer Kids K will be held at 8:30, a half-hour prior to the main event! Unique patch medals and Fit-Tek t-shirts for all participants, with wood/metal trophies going to top overall finishers.
Before you leave, be sure to try Camp Drake’s signature Lumberjack Pancakes, served up fresh on the outdoor griddle and larger than the size of your head.
Due to the nature of some parts of the trail, the race is capped to 300 participants, so register early.
Top overall Male, Female, and Kids’ K will receive a carved wood and medal trophy. Age group winners will receive specialized medals, and every finished will receive a unique “patch” medal and Fit-Tek T-shirt.
See you on the trail!
