How the Race Works
The run begins at 9:00 a.m. and the walk at 9:01 a.m. A twosome is a relay team of two runners or two walkers.
Relay run
In the 2 x 5K relay run, one person runs two loops of Crystal Lake Park (5 kilometers, or 3.1 miles) then hands off a “stick” to the partner, who also runs two loops and then enters the finishers’ chute.
Relay walk
In the 2 x 2.5K relay walk, one person walks one loop of Crystal Lake Park (2.5K), then hands off a “stick” to a partner, who walks a second loop and then enters the finishers’ chute.

Open run/walk
Participants who are not part of a twosome enter the open division in which single runners and walkers complete a 5K (two loops of Crystal Lake Park).

The Course Route
Start on the park path that is west of the pavilion. Follow the arrows through the park. Turn left
on Park St. and left on Broadway Ave., running or walking in the lane created by the cones. Turn left
into the park entrance and continue along the main path. When you get back to the start, you’ve completed one loop (2.5K). The finish line is on the road that leads to the Lake House from the
northwest.

Friday, May 13, from noon to 6 p.m., at Human Kinetics, 1607 N. Market St., Champaign
Race day, from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., at the Crystal Lake Park Lake House.
