The Decatur Running Club of Decatur, IL is hosting the Third Annual “Grand Slam” medal challenge. All runners/walkers that complete 4 out of the 5 chosen Decatur, IL races in 2014 will receive a special medal at the end of 2014, usually at the Decatur Running Club Christmas Party. Challenge participants are urged to sign up to be a member of the Decatur Running Club.
Each year the main “Decatur 4” races will be part of the Grand Slam Medal Series with one additional race that will be chosen every other year. The “Decatur 4” consists of Penguin in the Park 5k in March, Whitmore Classic in May, Shoreline Classic in September and Sand Creek Trail Run in October.
A fifth local race will be added to the Grand Slam Medal series every 2 years. The 2014-2015 5th featured race is the Firecracker 4 or 8 mile, held annually on July 4th.
