Decatur Illinois’ 13-week training program to prepare local runners for the Shoreline Classic 15k and 5k, Shoreline Squad, announced today that it would be canceling the 2018 program due to low participation. Plans are in the works to revive the once-popular training program for the race’s 30th anniversary in 2019.
Illinois State Fair Corn Dog Kickoff Brings 5k and 3k to Illinois State Fairgrounds
The Illinois Fairgrounds Foundation will be hosting a 5K run and 3K walk in conjunction with the Illinois State Fair Corn Dog Kickoff. The races will begin at 10:00 a.m. from the Shed. The route, which is contained on the state fairgrounds, will take participants on the world’s fastest dirt track, through Conservation World, across Happy Hollow, and more before ending back at The Shed.
Shoreline Squad Training Program Kicks Off June 14, 2018
Decatur’s Shoreline Squad training program kicks off its’ summer program June 14, 2018, at Nelson Park in Decatur, Illinois. Shoreline Squad offers 13 weeks of instruction conducted by squad leaders in walking, Learn to Run, 5k and 15k groups leading up to race day. Training begins June 21 and squads will meet every Thursday at 6pm in Nelson Park until September 16th.
2018 Summer Park Runs in Decatur, IL
Join local runners in Decatur, IL for Summer Park Runs at Fairview Park on Tuesdays this summer. Sign up begins at 5:30 p.m. and the entry fee is $1. The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) has announced its selection of races to be deemed as Championship Races of 2018. Among those, the Christie Clinic Illinois Half Marathon in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, was chosen as the Half Marathon Championship Race.
Peoria’s Screaming Pumpkin Race Canceled Indefinitely
Peoria’s scariest Halloween race, The Screaming Pumpkin, has been canceled for 2017 and for the foreseeable future, according to the Shazam Racing Facebook page.
