The Shoreline Classic is the premier Road Race in downstate Illinois. This event draws hundreds of runners and spectators from across the state of Illinois. The race provides both a competitive and recreational event for athletes while promoting the value of living a healthy lifestyle.

Both the TAC CERTIFIED 5K and 15K races are run along the shores of beautiful Lake Decatur. The 5K is a relatively flat and fast out-and-back, while the 15K is a challenging, hilly loop around the lake. Both routes are on paved roads with traffic control, 1 mile splits, and water stops every 2 miles. Course maps available at

The 29th Annual Shoreline Classic will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018
There will be a 15K run, 5K run/walk and a tot trot.

Packet Pick-up Schedule – Nelson Park, Pavilion 1
Friday night, Sept. 14 Packet Pickup: 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Sunday morning, Sept. 16 Packet Pickup:
15K – 6:15 to 7:15 AM (race starts at 7:30 AM)
5K – 6:15 to 7:45 AM (race starts at 8:00 AM)
Tot Trot – 6:15 to 9:00 AM (Trots start at 9:15/9:25 AM)

Shirts for the first 1200 signed up. Shirt sizes guaranteed for those signed up by August 17th.
Finisher Medals for participants.

The race is held from Nelson Park, in Decatur, IL, south off Route 36 on Nelson Park Blvd.
Decatur, Illinois is 180 miles south of Chicago
120 miles northeast of St. Louis
150 miles west of Indianapolis

The 15K course closes after 1 hour, 52 minutes (approx. 12 min/mile) and the 5k is open for 1 hour, 05 minutes (approx 20 min/mile) . Participants wishing to complete the 9.3-mile event within that timeframe will need to maintain a 12-minute/mile pace and the 5K in 20 min/mile. After the time limits have been reached, the streets will be re-opened to vehicular traffic, participants still out on the race course will be asked to move to the sidewalks, and on-course support (Aid Stations) will close.
